You are brave planting lemon balm in there. I once laughed at an elder
gardener warning me against planting lemon balm. Now I have lemon balm
EVERYWHERE!
hi john thanks for this video. i have a small slightly raised bed in my
back yard and though i water daily the soil under the cocoanut husk mulch
i’m using is always bone dry the next time i go to water. my question is
this… does this mulch wick the water from the soil back into the air
drying it out and basically making my plants struggle to grow? i also use
sugarcane mulch and get a similar result. trust me i make sure i’ve watered
sufficiently to saturate the soil. do you have a mulch you like to use in a
slightly raised bed say around 5 – 6 inches above ground level if so what
is it? thanks john
Pardon my ignorance please, but when you speak of edible plants that are
medicinal, should I be careful not to eat too much of them, or is it okay
to make salads with lots of them in them?
whats that tye dye looking thing behind you when you were sitting down,
this may sound weird but it looks really good in the garden and has given
me an idea to put something like that behind the plants in my garden
against the wall, the contrast between that and the plants would look nice,
thanks
+Learn Organic Gardening at GrowingYourGreens – John, where are you getting
the ashitaba from? I also live in Socal, but haven’t found a good source
for these wonderful plants. Much appreciated if you can respond. thanks!
John, need your help! My garden bed was filled with coco coir, 5-6 inches,
some veggies did okay some did not. They received liquid organic food, but
it doesn’t seem as great of a medium as I was lead to believe. I think as a
soil additive would have better but soil removed came from ?????? So living
in Ohio what do I need to do for winter and how to prep for spring?
John! I seriously have to thank you for all your inspiration and my better
health! All my life I have been struggling with anemia and low iron. After
a blood transfusion a year ago I hit my all time low of 7 on a scale that
goes to 180 as the top end. I also just had a baby in August (very iron
depleting!). Well, my blood results as of April were at 21 after having
iron injections and taking many iron pills…four weeks after baby I’m at
83!!!! I’ve never been past 21, so why has this happened?! Because I built
a raised garden bed and used 100% food compost and Gaia green rock dust and
we’ve been having kale smoothies in our VitaMix! Checkout my raised bed
enclosure I finished building at 7 mths pregnant! Thank you so much John, I
feel great!! Keep up the videos and inspiration! It really makes a
difference! http://littlegreenearthling.blogspot.ca/2014/06/raised-garden-beds-deer-and-critter.html?m=1

Good basic gardening info. John glanced over it, so remember, good, rich
soil is key to having a successful garden.
