I know I have been pretty quiet in the last few months but I have had a ton
of changes going on in my life. After 10 years of trying, I finally moved
to New Hampshire and am excited to start a new life here. I have been very
busy relocating and working on my Diplomate in Clinical Nutrition.
I’ve had a pleasant surprise over the last few months. My YouTube page has
just crossed over 6 million views.
I believe great food is the best medicine to heal the body so I have always
been interested in growing my own. I made a documentary about dropping out
of the rat race and farming for a living. It’s called “Screw This Job, I am
Going to Be a Farmer.” I put the whole documentary up for free on YouTube
and thousands of people are watching it every day. It is just about to pass
1/4 million views and is showing no sign of slowing. The film is doing so
well people are insisting I make more. In case you missed it or want to
watch it again, here is a link to watch it completely free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxT9bqe7nbQ
I want to make a second follow-up film and could use your advice. This
documentary will spotlight more unusual small farms. What are Your Top 3
Farm Ideas that you would like me to document? If you have an idea that is
not listed, please respond and tell me what it is.

Thanks so much for your help! I will try to stay in better touch.
Dr. Lupo, very nice video. We are considering to get into farming in a
couple of years. We even started to consider to start a chicken coup in our
back yard. We went to the city hall and paid the fee for a permit to build
it. We also have been growing a few vegetables. So, after watching this
video, we’re thinking about the chicken coup again. We’re feel motivated
once more. Thanks!

While this certainly is informative and nicely put together, the most
obvious take-away is that in most of these cases, the people have day
jobs while farming as a hobby. A real analysis of a small farm will
include the information tied to the farms Schedule F. You’re really
“farming” when you’re not subsidizing your farm with your day job.
I’m an aggie school dropout, 21 years military, 10 years private sector.
Farming now on SOVRN-T Farm in South Carolina. Vegetables, chickens, ducks
and turkeys. Serious farming does take a bit of money to start and a lot of
hard work. Love it.
You can/she can sell the Chicken and turkey Manure as a great farm
fertilizer… chicken and turkey poo is the best fertilizer for a garden or
farm crop……
Hey, strange question…have you ever tried olive trees? I’m just north of
you up in SC, the olive project has been an ongoing failure to even get the
seeds to germinate (even the ones I ordered direct from Greece). Any clue
where I might find some olive plants rather than seeds? thanks
My husband I have been looking for about three years now for a farm to
purchase. The Bank is our biggest hurdle. Our jobs are eating away at our
savings, it is getting harder. We have decided not matter what in May we
are moving out of the city to an rural area and pursue our dream, not
matter what.
After hurricane Inike in Kauai (1993) the chickens that got out did
extremely well on their own.
There are signs around the airport saying. “don’t Feed The Chickens, they
propagate on their own”. And they r everywhere……
Sir I just thought I would inform you jungle fowl are not chickens, they
are Jungle fowl, which is a species in its own right, chickens are
domesticated descendants of Jungle fowl, potentially crosses between the
Grey and Red jungle fowl but mainly just the Red Jungle fowl.
